Weathering a la Piers (Tutorial of sorts)

Since the Photobucket debacle I'm just compiling tutorials that I find handy for my needs and reposting them here, and naming who made it. So expect more in the future. This is something Piers posted recently.

Decals on and sealed with varnish ready for weathering...

Chipping added with a piece of torn sponge, always blot it first after picking up the paint...

Filter applied, let the filter flood off the brush rather than paint it on...

Neat oil paint applied and then thinned on the model with thinners to darken lower areas of model and to fade other surfaces...

Pin wash applied and blended on model with thinners...

Streaking fluids applied, in bold lines and then faded with thinners, using downwards brushstrokes to get the effect you desire...

Finally a light dusting of pigments...

And to finish off... a crewman added...

And that is it.
